Don't miss this all brick custom Ranch overlooking Bunn Lake. The upgrades in this home leaves nothing for a new homeowner to do, from the custom molding, hardwoods through out the main living area, and beautiful custom cabinets with granite countertops. Stepping outside, you will be surrounded by a completely fenced-in, in-ground Saltwater Pool that includes lush mature banana trees and features a one-of-a-kind pool house with a private half bath. You'll never want to leave!

Dear Buyer,

I was looking for property in the Zebulon area to build my "last" home and almost purchased land by the Zebulon Country Club but, Mr. George Ray, just by accident, decided to show me this property that he had been saving for his son to build on. I found out later that lots of people wanted to buy this property but Betty and George would not sell. Boy was I fortunate, this property had set dormant forever and the trees were gorgeous, the property had never been timbered. The property was set for the house to be facing Hagwood Road but Franklin County allowed me to face the house toward Hwy 39, looking over Bunn Lake.

You will notice as you turn into the driveway there is a street sign named "Taylors Mtn" and your drive up the driveway will give you a hint for the name. The top of the driveway has a large parking and turning area (I am concrete poor, look at the driveway, parking area, pool, patio front area, etc) and you will see we have lots of concrete.

I contracted my home and the wonderful thing that comes to mind is the big front porch with a swing that looks out over the lake and wooded area. We love birds and we have the perfect place for our birds, squirrels, and if you are lucky, seeing two bald eagles that reside on Bunn Lake across the road. I have described the home to my bride of 44 years that she has a mountain retreat in the front yard overlooking a lake and a resort in the back yard.

We enjoy our pool, pool house with half bath and the bar with a unique tile table area. I could enjoy the hot tub located just outside the bedroom door leading out to the tub. Looking up at night you can see the outline of trees and the heavens above, just an amazing view. If you are fortunate enough to have a snow that is the best time to be in the tub. I love the trees, some of them you can't put your arms around. When I bought the lot it had never been timbered and you can see I saved as many hardwoods as I could. I did remove the pines except at the road.

My home does not require a paintbrush, it's brick and vinyl, including railings. The utility shed is vinyl, including all trim. All of my railings are also plastic vinyl, including the patio and front porch. Until you sit out front, ceiling fans on, either early in the morning or late in the afternoon, you won't be able to appreciate the view, having coffee in the mornings or watching the sunset. The grandkids enjoy the pool, starting in late April or early May and the pool stays open until September or so. When the leaves start falling, I put the pool cover on.

You will note, I placed a privacy fence around three sides and with wrought iron fencing that faces the house. I installed two three sided lantern lights for outdoor lighting at the pool and I also have floodlights by the bar. The pool itself has lighting with five different colors. I also have a beach ceiling fan inside the bar and have light blue tile for the countertops around the bar. If you cook out as much as I do, you will enjoy the pool year around.

If your lights go out for a period of time, just plug into the cable outside with your generator, flip the switches inside the house and you have electricity. Something a number of homes do not have is "Christmas receptacles" which allow you to turn on or off your candles in the window with one switch, same for the Christmas tree. I have floodlights at the end of each corner of the house and flood lights shining to the house. I also had lighting set up for the flag pole that turns on at night and goes off each morning. I love trim and I was fortunate enough to get Bo Garris, the best trim man around. He and I designed the the columns and archway from the hallway to the living room.

Look at the beautiful woodwork around the fireplace, wow. So, if you like trim and chair railing, come see our house. Of special note, the master bedroom has top hats above each window (there are four windows) and also above the two doors. We had the wider doors installed throughout the house. The office has a four foot opening and our dining room is open with a column, very unique.

There are ceiling fans in all bedrooms and the living room. I have two pull-down stairs for storage and they are lighted. You will note the large door that goes under the house, I can walk into the storage area and I had concrete poured, I'm guessing there is a 10 by 20 concrete floor, you can never have too much storage.

I could go on and on but I hope you get the picture, this home is made to order for someone that enjoys life and has the special qualities you can enjoy year end and year out. No corners were cut in construction and once you see my home you will understand why I get excited to give you a verbal picture.

Zebulon is a small town that offers everything you need to live the "life". I know the Mayor and Town Council, the Police Chief and Fire Chief. We have the small restaurants, the hamburger grills and steak house. It is close to Raleigh, Wilson and Rocky Mount, Smithfield, Clayton Louisburg, Selma, but, without the traffic and congestion. We have Hwy 264, Hwy 64, Hwy 39 and minutes away we have I95 and I40. The Raleigh/Durham Airport is 40 to 45 minutes away via 540. I'm not leaving the area, this is home and I love the people and location and what it offers.

My home is just outside the city limits of Zebulon and the house is on the corner of Hwy 39 and Hagwood Road facing Bunn Lake and is not a part of the "subdivision". I have my friends that are in the subdivision but I also have the privacy of being separated from the subdivision which I like.

Eating locations: We have the famous downtown restaurant called Barhams. It has an unbelievable breakfast, a lunch that serves a meat and two vegetables for $7.00 and you can't beat the taste. We also have Fargo Steakhouse which serves upscale steaks, a bar and good wines.

We also have Hillbillies if you want great hamburgers, hot dogs, fries or onion rings. Next door is Sonic and down the road is Bojangles. Across town is McLeans Restaurant that offers all types of food, a salad bar, etc. and is open 7 days a week. We have two great Mexican restaurants as well as Subways.

You are only 25 minutes to downtown Raleigh, 30 minutes to Parker's Bar b que, and about the same to the Beefmaster on 301 hwy in Wilson (one of my favorites). Wake Forest is only 25 minutes away and has Texas Roadhouse (not Texas Steakhouse, there is a difference).

These are the benefits to living in Zebulon, you have great eating establishments in your back yard or within 30 minutes or less you have at least 9 towns that offer any type of dining you can imagine.

Repeating myself, you are within short driving distance to Raleigh, Cary, Wake Forest, Wilson, Rocky Mount, Knightdale, Louisburg, Clayton and Smithfield. If you can't find it there you don't need it. And of course, Zebulon has great restaurants and shopping centers

Walmart is 5 minutes away and has a huge grocery store, Food Lion is 10 minutes away, Carley C's is across town and is a good size grocery store (part of the Kroger stores), Compare Foods grocery store offers Mexican specialties as well as American foods. Convenient stores are spread throughout; we have Privetts about 5 minutes away. Of course we have Gays drycleaners, two shopping centers and great Mexican restaurants, if you need it we have it other than movie theaters.

Small town USA Christmas parade which usually has around 130 floats, bands, etc. The fall festival in nearby Wendell is a big thing around here, and of course, baseball season at Mudcat Stadium which is 5 minutes away.

Recent Renovations:

I had the carpet removed in the living room and added hardwoods to this area. As you will see, I have hardwoods almost everywhere except the bedrooms, office and the tile in the bathrooms. About 1.5 years ago I had the area in back of the pool set up for my motor home. I also had a 30 amp receptacle installed in order to keep electricity available to the motor home. I have added Zoysia grass by the pool and patio; it is like carpet and adds to the appearance. The home is only 11 years old and as I said earlier, I contracted the home myself so I had all the additions put in that my wife and I had dreamed of.
